Cycling Stoney Fork Road
Ride 3.8 miles gaining 1,835’ at 9.2% average grade.
This nearly private and challenging ride ranks #7 on the North Carolina Top Climbs list. This is an epic climb along a gravel road surrounded by forest with its canopy covering us as we ride alone up to Blue Ridge Parkway.
This climb is all dirt with some ½-1” rock spread out on it. The climb is no problem ascending on a road bike (we used 28mm) but would be a challenge descending (we did not descend).

This is an epic climb, all the more so during fall colors.
Forest canopy most of the ride.
Finish at Snowball Trailhead about 100 yards from Blue Ridge Parkway.
This climb can be combined with the Blue Ridge Parkway-Craggy Garden Climb - the finish of Craggy Gardens is 3 miles from the finish of Stoney Fork.
Blue Ridge Parkway-Craggy Gardens is close to the Stoney Fork climb.
