I've done this climb close to 100 times. It's my benchmark ride. I live right next to Pilot Butte. I say it's very difficult because I ride it fast. It's also can be dangerous when the gate is open. Way too many cars and some people drive way too fast. This is also a walkers / hikers route. It's can get very crowded. But when the gate is locked, it's splendid. Gate hours in the summer are 10am -8pm. So before 10 is great. And the gate is locked full time in the fall/winter months. I love this climb....!
