INTRO

This is a steep yet scenic climb from the northern tip of Tenerife into Anaga Rural Park.  The climb can and should be coupled with four others for an 84 kilometer  3,000 meter climb fest - Anaga 5 (5 Sisters of Northern Tenerife).   Note and warning - there is a 75 meter narrow tunnel at the end of the climb - bring rear and front headlights.

Cycling Taganana

Ride 5.9 kilometers gaining 545 meters at 9.4% average grade

This is a very tough bike climb at the northern tip of Tenerife.  The climb has fantastic views beginning with the North Atlantic Ocean for the first  with great views of the first kilometer then the green and rugged Anaga Mountains in front and UP over the last two-thirds of the climb.

This is one of the 5 Sisters of Northern Tenerife which includes (1) Bailadero (21 km gaining 1027 m at 4.4% [5.6% climb only]; add 3.7 km and 85 m gained to Mirador Ingles and back)  (2) Las Carboneras (5.7 km gaining 364 m at 6.4%), (3) Afur (6.6 km gaining 542 m at 8.1%), (4) Taganana  (5.9 km gaining 545 m at 9.4%) and (5) Chamorga (5.2 km gaining 336 m at 6.1%).  The statistics for our 5 Sisters + Mirador Ingles are 110 kilometers gaining 4,216 meters.

Pass through the climb’s namesake, Taganana half way up the climb.

There are some nice and dramatic unobstructed views along this steep ride.

The climb ends at Bailadero at the end of a 75 meter 6% tunnel -
