KOM Corner:

The chase for the King of the Mountains was shaken up today with 2 of the top 3 riders being previously non contenders. EF Education rider Mikkel Honore earned all of his 17 points in today’s stage. Despite the change in top contenders, Aussie Jay Vine remains in the green polka dots for another day.

Stage 3 was debatably the second hardest climbing stage, with nearly 2100 meters climbed in 122 km, and three of the steepest climbs in the Adelaide area (The steepest 1/2 km was 14.2%, and steepest full kilometer at 12.3%).

Official summary of the TDU Stage 3:

The peloton will start in Norwood and tackle three of Adelaide’s toughest ascents, navigating Norton Summit, Checkers Hill and Corkscrew Road before finishing in Campbelltown.

Those with an eye on overall victory – and strength in the mountains – will be in the mix here.

This stage also features race director Stuart O’Grady’s favourite spot to ride in South Australia: beautiful Basket Range Road in the Adelaide Hills.  TDU.com - Stage 3
