Significant Ascents:
The Ironman Arizona bike course is a standard out and back up the iconic Beeline Hwy, one of the most scenic bike courses in the sport. The entire highway is a false flat, which gets slightly steeper until the turnaround, leading to a very fast return trip. It’s no wonder this course has yielded some of the fastest IRONMAN bike times on record.
The gradient stays under 5% for the entire course:

Turn By Turn
There are only 4 turns on the entire course, 3 very straightforward 90 degree turns, and 1 U-turn, each done several times for the 3x out-and-back.
Bike Course turnaround:
180˚ right turn; mi 18, 55, 92
Entrance gradient (preceding 0.1 mi): 4%
Exit gradient (next 0.1 mi): -4%
