Death Road - Bolivia
We traveled to Bolivia in 2017 to ride the deadliest road in the world (Death Road) and the highest (Uturuncu).
THE HARDEST BIKE CLIMB IN BOLIVIA
Cycling the Death Road
Ride 62 km (39 miles) gaining 3548m (11,640’) to 4634m (15,204’) at 5.5% average grade.
This is just one badass road!
The Death Road is the 5th hardest climb in the world.
4,470m = 14,665’ elevation (the sign is incorrect).
However, our devices show 15,271-15,341’.
THE HIGHEST BIKE CLIMB IN THE WORLD
Cycling Uturuncu, Bolivia (highest road outside of Tibbet).
Ride 17 km (10.8 miles) gaining 1409m (4,624’) to 5754m (18,877’) at 8% average grade.
The highest road in the world, at least outside of Tibet.
From the saddle, we trekked the .4 miles 709’ at 30.8% average grade to Volcan Uturuncu Summit .
The longest .4 miles trek ever!
