CLIMB SUMMARY

Cycling Trepito

Ride 13.7 kilometers gaining 882 meters at 5.7% average grade.

Climb summary by PJAMM friend and ambassador, Bruce Hamilton, Midway, Utah.

This climb starts on the north side of the Parco Dell’Aspromonte national park in the Calabria province of southern Italy.

The climbs from this side of the ridge are generally a little steeper than the climbs from the south side. The climb starts with open views back to the coastal plain and the Mediterranean and heads up into the forest. A couple of kilometers from the top there is an observation viewpoint available if you take a right turn on a very small road and ride a few hundred meters. Commanding views from the viewpoint.

This is among many climbs in the region that climb up to a ridge that runs down the center of the ‘boot toe’ of southern Italy and it’s possible to do multiple climbs in a single ride. It would not be difficult to ride over and back from one coast to the other. We rode the Locri climb from Locri on the same ride in which we climbed Trepito as the two roads connected along the ridge.
