INTRO
A short and steep climb just south of Bend right up a miniature volcano. This is the sister climb to downtown Bend's Pilot Butte, both short, spiral-shaped rides with scenic views of the Cascade Range to the west.

Road:
Excellent surface, and unique bright red pavement. Virtually no traffic and is very slow moving.

Parking:
There's a parking lot right in the park entrance off of Hwy 97. Since the climb is in a national monument a small fee is usually required
Restrooms and drinking fountains are at the Lava Lands Visitor Center at the parking lot.

About a mile at 8-10%. Very steady climb and no traffic except the shuttle bus. Unique spiral road up an extinct volcano
