CLIMB SUMMARY

Cycling Bailadero

Ride 21 kilometers gaining 1,027 meters at 4.4% average grade (7.7% climb only).

This is one of several out and backs that can be climbed in this area.  We begin the climb in San Andres, just north of the capital of Tenerife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

This is the first leg of the 5 Sisters of Northern Tenerife which includes (1) Bailadero (21 km gaining 1027 m at 4.4% [5.6% climb only]; add 3.7 km and 85 m gained to Mirador Ingles and back)  (2) Las Carboneras (5.7 km gaining 364 m at 6.4%), (3) Afur (6.6 km gaining 542 m at 8.1%), (4) Taganana  (5.9 km gaining 545 m at 9.4%) and (5) Chamorga (5.2 km gaining 336 m at 6.1%).  The statistics for our 5 Sisters + Mirador Ingles are 110 kilometers gaining 4,216 meters.  

 

Begin at the North Atlantic Ocean at the northern tip of Tenerife.

Around 15 hairpins for 6 kilometers beginning at km 5.1 averaging 5.7%

Great looks back at these spectacular hairpins.

Towards the top of the 6 kilometer set of hairpins.

Pass El Bailadero at about kilometer 10 of 21.

We ride through a couple of narrow passages on the second half of the climb.

Great views down towards the northern end of the Port of Santa Cruz to the south after Bailadero.

Tiny cafe 1.2 kilometers from the finish.
