Chile is an epic country to climb mountains by bike in. There are some of the highest and most difficult climbs by bike in Chile. Cycling the Andes is an epic adventure!
THE HARDEST BIKE CLIMB IN CHILE
Cycling Atacama, Chile
Ride 34.5 km (21 m) gaining 2,253 m (7,393’) to elevation 4,751 m (15,587’) at 6.5%
This is the highest paved pass in the Americas at 15,578’. In contrast to Central and Northern South America (e.g. Colombia), this is a stark climb in the high Andes desert with minimal to no vegetation to be seen. Yet, this is a dramatically stark and beautiful climb which we are very glad we spent the time to get to and climb.
We are in site of Volcan Licancubur (on the Chile/Bolivia border) nearly the entire climb.
Finish 21 miles / 34 km.
THE SECOND MOST DIFFICULT BIKE CLIMB IN CHILE
PASO LOS LIBBERTADORES
Cycling Paso Los Libbertadores
