The climbs of Italy's northwestern region are situated in the Italian Alps, which run along the border of Italy and France/Switzerland. The capital of Piemonte is Turin, which is within 110 kilometers of most of the region's climbs (60 km from the start of 6 of the climbs). Turin hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics, and sees the Giro d'Italia pass through nearly every year. The most challenging climbs in the region are Alpe Fuori(#12 World) and the Colle delle Finestre, which is both one of the 50 hardest climbs in the world and one of the most scenic.
